Training
and Performance-Centered Design
Frank's
background in training is as broad as it is deep.
During the past 20 years, Frank has developed and
delivered training in a variety of media including
CBT, classroom delivery, Internet
and performance support. With a Master's degree
in Instructional Technology, he brings the current
technologies to any training requirement. He works
independently or as part of a team to get the job
done. More importantly, over the years Frank's training
projects consistently come in on time and under budget.
When
he was with NCR, he headed up the effort to select
and deploy a global learning management system.
The challenges included:
- 130+
countries
- 400+
locations
- Multilingual
- Meets
or exceed European privacy statues
- Integration
with PeopleSoft
- Migration
of rogue LMSs into the global solution
Frank
is also an industry leader in the world of performance
support.
If
you're not familiar with that discipline, consider
this: computer systems only possess value if
they are used.
Unfortunately,
many computer systems, including web sites, are challenging
and daunting to end users. In the world of the Internet,
frustrated end users will simply look elsewhere for
other options. However, when end users are stuck with
one poorly design system, the most common option is
to have the end users endure pain and frustration.
It
doesn't need to be that way!
Frank
uses methods and strategies that look at an organization's
resources, constraints as well as the targeted audience
and helps synthesize alternatives that make system
use easier. One of Frank's key objectives is to minimize
or eliminate the need for training, documentation
and support by designing those components into the
system itself. Many systems developers scoff at such
a radical notion and say, 'we just need smarter users.'
What is really needed is smarter systems.
Frank
is a frequent speaker in the performance support industry,
speaking at events such as Online Learning, EdMedia,
SALT and KM World.
