Beginning this past Monday (January 20) through February 3, Rykodisc celebrates the charity work of singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn by donating $5 (US) per BDS spin of his new single"Night Train" to the U.S. Campaign to Ban Landmines. The single is the first track off his new Rykodisc album The Charity of the Night, which is scheduled for release February 4.

"Somewhere around the world someone loses a limb or their life to a landmine every 20 minutes," said Mary Wareham of the Ban Landmines campaign. "This equates to thousands of casualties each year. The US Campaign to Ban Landmines, part of an international effort, is extremely pleased with Bruce Cockburn's commitment to a ban on this insidious weapon and is grateful to Rykodisc for its support."

Cockburn visited Mozambique, Africa, in both 1988 and in 1995, investigating on his second trip the post-war problem of landmines in that country. His song "" (another track on Charity) specifically addresses this issue.
